"I was a cloth diaper baby. I was born in the 70’s when it was common place to see cloth diaper families using stinky diaper pails filled with bleach and water, diapers created from large pieces of cloth which had to be folded, pinned and covered in plastic diaper covers. So, when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2008 my mother suggested that I consider using cloth diapers as well. I was less than enthused about the thought of swishing poopy diapers in a toilet and the smell of diaper pail filling my house.  On the other hand, I am always looking for ways to be more environmentally conscious, so the thought of keeping thousands of disposable diapers out of the landfill was appealing to me. As I began to look into using cloth I was shocked and amazed at the changes that had occurred over the past 30 years. No more pins, no more wet buckets, no more swishing diapers in the toilet. Instead, I found cloth diapers available in every style imaginable and every colour under the rainbow. Cloth diapers looked more like disposable diapers than I imagined. Easy to use, easy to clean and totally easy on the earth! However, with my research came confusion. What type of diapers should I buy? How many diapers will I need? How do I wash them? The list of questions went on and on.

Flash forward 2 years and Booty Boutique is born. I’ve become so passionate about cloth diapers and the many other eco-friendly options available to parents today that I’ve decided to start a business based around it. My goal is to make it easier for parents to make the choice to move to cloth diapers. I want to provide parents with all the information needed to make an informed decision and be confident in the decision they have made.  Cloth diapering is not hard. Making environmentally friendly decisions is easy. There are so many different options available today that any family can find an option that suits them best.   If you  are new to cloth diapers and starting to  investigate the options available to you, you’ve come to the right place. "Thirty some years ago with the birth of my first child I made the decision to use cloth diapers. For me it was an easy decision, we lived in a remote area, going for groceries was a day trip and disposable diapers were expensive.

I became more ecologically minded over the years, so when Sarah became pregnant I suggested she use cloth diapers. I think to humour me more than anything else she agreed to “think about it”. So ... we began to research and I was amazed at the progress in cloth diapers. No more smelly water filled pails.... no more folding.... they looked just like disposables!

The decision to use cloth diapers was easy. They save you money, they are better for your baby, they are better for the planet, and they are convenient to use. The more difficult decision is which ones to use... there are so many out there! We have limited our product line to those we think will serve your baby best (without ignoring the “cute factor”) and have also included a line of biodegradable disposables that can help you through those times when cloth just does not work for you.
